Give her a play, not a necklace
KUOW 94.9 recently featured the story of ACT donors Charlie and Benita Staadecker, and the wonderful legacy they created by commissioning Steven Dietz’s 2008 ACT smash-hit comedy, Becky’s New Car.
Charlie wanted to give his wife something special for her 60th birthday, and after creating a brand-new piece of theatre in her honor, Benita says, “I could be walking into this room with an emerald necklace, or you could be watching Becky’s New Car. You choose. I’d rather have Becky’s New Car.”
Listen to the story and read the transcript at KUOW’s website!
Thanks Charlie and Benita for bringing so much joy and creative opportunity into our community.
